What is in a Check

As you sit filling out check after check to pay your bills each month, have you ever really looked at it. You already understand your personal information on the top left with what little logo or picture you picked when you ordered them. Just above the date line on the top right is a line of numbers with a slash between them. This identifies your particular bank and then you have your check number, usually four digits.
There is below that, a box where you write the amount of the check in numbers and to the left is the long line where the name of the person or business who gets the check is written. To the right of the amount line you should see a little pad lock. This lock is there for security features that are in your check and helps your bank to stop fraudulent activities. If you turn the check over, on the back is more information you can read about it.
Further down is the line to sign you name and then a memo line for your reference. Your routing number is the fist nine numbers of that long line of numbers, followed by your account number.
